Britanny was born in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, the biggest Mennonite community in México. She studied Chemical Engineering at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (2021), with a focus on materials and computational chemistry. Her thesis on organic molecules with photoswitchable properties for energy harvesting awarded her an honorific mention in her degree.
She is the first Mennonite woman who is studying a Master’s degree in Materials Science. Britanny is part of the double degree program between the Advanced Materials Research Center (CIMAV, México) and Queen Mary University of London. Her research area focuses on studying the piezoelectric effect in ceramic materials to enhance the photocatalytic activity for organic dyes degradation and hydrogen production.
