Jie Yang started his PhD studies in 2022. He is co-supervised by Prof Ana Sobrido and funded by the CSC scholarship. Before coming to QMUL, Jie completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University in China. His master focused on the tribological performance of PVD-coated laser microtextured surfaces. His current research is to develop resilient electrodes with high electrochemical performance through experiments and multi-physics simulations, including carbon nanotubes mats for redox flow batteries (large scale energy storage) and silicon-based anodes for Li-ion batteries (ordinary scale energy storage).
