Michael joined the group in April 2021 as PDRA. He did his M.Sc. degree in chemistry at the University of Hamburg and finished his PhD at the same university in 2017 with focus on the modification of polymers and electrospun fibres. After a year in industry, he started in 2019 as a PDRA at the University of Bristol to work on the fabrication cellulose fibres from ionic liquids and in 2020 at the University of Bath to work on energy absorbing fibre reinforced composites.
His work is focused on the design and synthesis of freestanding electrospun fibres of carbon-based electroactive materials for their application as electrodes in redox flow batteries based on sustainable materials.
